dc.description.abstract | Health care is characterized by a complex and dynamic environment comprising many diverse actors who must make prudent and timely critical decisions, which require a vast knowledge and pertinent information. This environment has been tremendously challenged by a multiplicity of key factors including exponentially increasing costs, an aging population, and the dramatic rise of chronic diseases, the consequences of which are far reaching and impact us all. While e-health solutions can contribute to address some of these problems, there is paucity of research concerning their adoption and diffusion. We draw upon institutional information system (IS) literature pertaining to the development of information and communication technology (ICT) innovations to make the case concerning the usefulness of Swanson and Ramiller’s (1997) organizing vision framework as a suitable and compelling tool for investigating the development and adoption of e-health solutions. | en_US |
